Blonde can run on one server and on several workstations. A computer with sufficient capacity may be used as a server and as a client at the same time. The server stores the data and makes computations. The client computers display the results to the users. The server and client computers should meet different requirements: the server should be fast with large capacity, the client PC should be user friendly with excellent displaying functions.

A barcode reader is advisable for fast data entry. A CD or DVD writer or a USB pen drive is needed for saving data. All types of printer are convenient for printing invoices and reports, but it may be worth buying a fast printer with low operating costs (for example a laser jet printer). To print receipts a separate printer can be used. We can provide the necessary resources, however Blonde customers can purchase hardware items on their own. |

Software requirements |

Blonde requires a Microsoft Windows operating system on the server and client computers. Supported server operational systems are as follows: Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional, Microsoft Windows 2000 Server, Microsoft Windows XP Professional, and Microsoft Windows Server 2003. Clients can be installed with the previous systems or with the following systems: Microsoft Windows 98, Microsoft Windows Millennium, Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 Server, Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 Workstation, and Microsoft Windows XP Home. The latter mentioned operating systems are not recommended. It is necessary to install the latest updates to your operating system (for example Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional Service Pack 4). The language of the operating system is indifferent for Blonde. The database engine of Blonde should also be installed. The database engine is Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Edition. This system means no additional cost for the customers as the price of Blonde contains the costs for the database engine. We can provide and install the necessary software, but customers can purchase them on their own. |
